Elena, Koko, Patso, and Gosho are a self-proclaimed bunch of high-school “losers” living in a small provincial town. Koko’s parents work in Greece so he has to take care of his grandmother who suffers from Alzheimer’s. He is in love with Elena whose dream is to become a famous singer and live far away from her alcoholic mother. Elena is excited about the concert of a famous rock band visiting their town. This event will stir up all the residents and bring about new love affairs and disappointments, complicating everything. This humorous coming-of-age drama is the Bulgarian entry for Academy Awards and second independent work by actor and director Ivaylo Hristov.
Theater actor and director born in Bulgaria in 1955. He has directed over 40 plays and acted in over 50. Losers has achieved success at numerous international festivals and become Bulgarian entry for Academy Awards in the category of Best Foreign Language Film.
