During a beach outing with her family, a young mother is drowned by a group of men while swimming offshore. Anxiety and fear take hold of her family and the townspeople as, soon after, other bathers mysteriously start to die. Named after the Arabic term for Medusa, this horror fantasy tackles the notion of the female body as a site of sexual aggression and violence, as well as the focus of other social, economic and ideological frustrations.

Damien Ounouri
