Werner Herzog, one of the most renowned world documentarists and representatives of the New German Cinema, is making a film about the Loch Ness monster. Simultaneously, the acclaimed cinematographer John Bailey is making a documentary about Herzog. The boat with two film crews encounters a storm of tumultuous disputes and they soon realize they are all hostages of a megalomanic producer. The increasingly absurd situation is suddenly interrupted by the alleged appearance of the monster. A dedication to art documentaries, documentaries about artists, and a farcical commentary on the inflated egos governing their production.
