Following her mother’s death and her father’s mental breakdown, teenage Emily is placed in a foster nfamily. Her 16 th birthday is here, but the usual greeting card from her father is not in the mailbox. Emily is convinced something is wrong so she sits in an old yellow Renault 4, taking her only friend from school, Arden, with her on a cross-country journey to reach the psychiatric hospital where her father is being treated. Along the way, Emily and Arden develop intimacy and find love, but they also discover hidden fears they will inevitably have to face at their destination. Emily is played by actress Evanna Lynch, famous for her Role of Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter film series.

Simon Fitzmaurice

Award-winning screenwriter, director, and author. He has written the bestselling book It’s Not Yet Dark which describes his battle with ALS. His films have been screened at the biggest film festivals in the world, including Sundance, where he presented his short film The Sound of People (2007).

My Name is Emily is his feature debut.
