Successful neurologist Lary joins a traditional family gathering commemorating his recently deceased father. In the usual manner of such gatherings, the luncheon does not go as planned – heated discussions escalate, differences of opinion arise, secrets are revealed, and insults are thrown around. The latest work by the Romanian director known for his films The Death of Mister Lazarescu and Aurora is an insightful and witty tapestry woven with personal neuroses and political ideologies, which offers a family portrait as well as a unique analysis of society today. Sieranevada is Cristi Puiu’s third film screened at the Zagreb Film Festival. In 2004, his Coffee and Cigarettes won the Golden Pram for Best Short Feature Film.
