The White Rose is a secret society which uses nonviolent methods to fight the Nazi regime. Its members are young people, mostly students, among them brother and sister, Sophie and Hans Scholl, and their friend Cristoph Probst. Sophie and Hans hand out anti-Nazi flyers at their university, but get caught. At the police station they try to deny everything at first, but Hans soon gives in. To protect the other members, so does Sophie. The inspector offers her leniency in return for giving up on her beliefs and betraying the others.
