Xavier Dolan has become a regular guest of the Zagreb Film Festival. After his debut I Killed My Mother won the Golden Pram for Best Feature Film, another three of his films screened at the festival – Heartbeats, Laurence Anyways, and Mommy. He is back for the fifth time, now as the winner of the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival for his most mature work so far. Writer Louis, terminally ill, returns home after 12 years of absence to break the bad news to his family. However, his family members are battling their own demons and resentments, which causes a breakdown in communication and complicates a peaceful resolution.

Xavier Dolan

Born in Montreal in 1989. His feature debut I Killed My Mother (2009) has achieved great success, winning awards throughout the world, including the Main Prize of ZFF. All subsequent films, like Heartbeats (2010), Laurence Anyways (2012), and Mommy (2014) have been screened and awarded in Cannes.
