An ecological science-fiction mockumentary about the discovery of a new species inhabiting the industrial wasteland in the north of the former Czechoslovakia. Unlike humans, oil gobblers need exhaust gases, oil, and coal to survive. Accompanied by a film crew, a zoologist and a biochemist go out into an oilfield to search for the elusive creatures. In 1989 the film won a Student Academy Award.

Jan Svěrák
